It's too late to wake the world up but I can't get to sleep.
Winter has a point to make, the snow is six feet deep.
And Saturday snuck up slowly, like a birthday you forget
It's got me close to crying, but my cheeks ain't getting wet
I keep thinking
The climb ain't worth the fall
But I'm standing straight and I
don't feel tall
So I'm on the ladder after all
Look out Mama, the
world's so small
I could quit this race I'm running, out of fear of placing last
I could turn around and sit back down but I might be moving fast
It could just jump out at me, it might smack me in the face
And say
you're always doing something, so nothing is a waste
Still I'm thinking
The climb ain't worth the fall
But I'm standing straight and I
don't feel tall
So I'm on the ladder after all
Look out Mama, the
world's so small
They can send your hopes a'flyin', or beat 'em down to hell
They can write you off or write you out while they say
you're looking well
Now somewhere in the middle my vision starts to blur
There's something up ahead of me, but what I can't be sure
So I'm stuck here thinking
The climb ain't worth the fall
But I'm standing straight and I
don't feel tall
So I'm on the ladder after all
Look out Mama, the
world's so small
