BILL's BIOGRAPHY

BILL MUMY is a multi-talented and prolific actor, musician, writer, composer, voice artist, and producer whose remarkable career in professional entertainment began at the age of five. Over the decades, he has worked on more than 400 television productions and has become beloved by generations of fans around the world for creating some of television’s most memorable characters.

He is perhaps best known for his iconic roles as young astronaut Will Robinson on the classic series Lost in Space, Anthony Fremont in The Twilight Zone, and Lennier on the acclaimed science-fiction series Babylon 5, where he starred for five seasons. Most recently he appears in Space Command: The Great Solar War.

Bill is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and has appeared in 18 feature films, including Dear Brigitte, Rascal, Bless the Beasts and Children, and Papillon. He currently serves as a consulting producer on the long-running hit television series Ancient Aliens.

Voice, Television and Film
A prolific voice-over artist, Bill has lent his distinctive voice to numerous animated series, documentaries, specials, and national commercials. In 2015, he portrayed President Abraham Lincoln in The History Channel’s miniseries Civil War: Blood and Glory. He has narrated more than 50 episodes of A&E’s Biography series and has hosted and narrated numerous other documentaries and specials for A&E, the Sci-Fi Channel, and E! Entertainment.

His voice-acting credits include Rescue Bots, Bravest Warriors, The Ren & Stimpy Show, Scooby-Doo, Batman: The Animated Series, Steven Spielberg’s Animaniacs, Little Wizard Adventures, The Oz Kids, and Disney’s Buzz Lightyear of Star Command. His voice has also been heard in national advertising campaigns for companies including Farmers Insurance, Ford, Bud Ice, Twix, Blockbuster, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield.

Lost in Space Legacy
In 2015, Lost in Space celebrated its 60th anniversary with an impressive 18-disc Blu-ray release from Fox. Among the special features was an original cast performance of Bill’s The Epilogue, a script he wrote to provide a conclusion to the classic series.

Bill co-produced, directed, wrote, and starred in the special feature. The Epilogue went on to win a Gold Clio Award in 2016 for Best Creative Content.

To commemorate the golden anniversary of Lost in Space, Bill co-wrote Lost (and Found) in Space 2: Blast Off Into the Expanded Edition with his longtime co-star and “sister,” Angela Cartwright. The book features previously unseen photographs along with their personal memories of making the beloved series.

Bill and Angela also collaborated on the fantasy-adventure novel On Purpose, for which Bill composed and scored a 27-piece soundtrack to accompany the story.

Television Creator, Writer and Composer
With acclaimed writer Peter David, Bill co-created, produced, and wrote Space Cases, a live-action science-fiction adventure comedy series for Nickelodeon. The series ran for two seasons, from 1996–97, and was syndicated in more than 60 countries. It was nominated for a CableACE Award for Best Children’s Series.

Bill also co-wrote the series’ theme song, as well as themes for several television specials and programs, including Animal Planet’s 50 Greatest Animals of TV, 50 Greatest Animals of Films and TV, TV Guide Looks At..., Hollywood Backstory, and Studio Portraits.

A prolific composer and songwriter, Bill has written music for numerous film and television projects. He was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition for the live-action Disney series Adventures in Wonderland, for which he wrote and recorded 105 songs for its 100 episodes.

Music
Bill is one half of the infamous novelty-rock recording and short-film-making duo Barnes & Barnes. Best known for their surreal cult classic Fish Heads, Barnes & Barnes have released nine albums and a feature-length video. Rolling Stone named “Fish Heads” among its 100 greatest rock videos of all time.

Bill is also a prolific solo songwriter and recording artist. His solo releases include Velour, Ten Days, Illuminations, Until the Big Bang Whimpers, Glorious in Defeat, Carnival Sky, Speechless, Circular, The Landlord or the Guest, With Big Ideas, Ghosts, After Dreams Come True, Pandora’s Box, In the Current, Dying to Be Heard​, Lockford, Good Grief, Thank you Kindly, ​and most recently his latest solo album is titled Will Power.

Bill has also worked with the legendary pop group America for more than three decades, composing, producing, and performing with the band. He became part of Action Skulls, a rock group featuring Bill, Vicki Peterson of The Bangles, and John Cowsill of The Beach Boys and The Cowsills. Their debut album was Angels Hear, in 2020 release A Different World and more recently From A Running Horse.

Comics and Writing
Comic books have been a lifelong passion for Bill, beginning in childhood. He has written extensively for both Marvel and DC Comics and co-created The Comet Man and The Dreamwalker for Marvel. He has also written stories featuring The Hulk, Spider-Man, Iron Man, She-Hulk, Wonder Man, and other Marvel characters.

His comic-book work includes the Lost in Space series for Innovation Comics, the acclaimed 360-page graphic novel Lost in Space: Voyage to the Bottom of the Soul, and Trypto, The Acid Dog, which was featured in Dark Horse Presents. For DC Comics, Bill has written stories featuring Aquaman and The Spectre, as well as three issues of the classic Star Trek series. In 2013, Curse of the Mumy was released by Bluewater Comics.

His short stories The Black ’59 and The Undeadliest Game, co-written with Peter David, were originally published in Shock Rock and Shock Rock Volume 2 by Pocket Books and have since been published in numerous languages around the world.

Bill chronicled his extraordinary life and career in his candid and entertaining memoir, Danger, Will Robinson: The Full Mumy, sharing personal stories and memories from his journey as an actor, musician, author, artist, and family man.

Family and Legacy
Away from the spotlight, Bill is devoted to his family. He lives with his wife, Eileen, and their dogs in Laurel Canyon. Their two children, Seth and Liliana, have followed their father into the entertainment world and have established careers of their own as actors.

Bill is also a proud grandfather of four, a role that has added another special dimension to his remarkable life and legacy.
